Renew the skin in depth without superficial damage.
Home How does SkinPen microneedling work? What is microneedling?
Medical microneedling is used to renew and improve the skin through sterile and pure needles. 1,600 microchannels (wounds) per second are created in the skin, triggering the skin’s own wound healing. The needle depth can be manually adjusted to the needs of the skin. Creating the microchannels improves the overall skin condition, but can also treat specific indications.
The SkinPen treatment is made to renew the skin in depth, without causing unnecessary damage to the surface. With the 14 sterile and pure needles that maintain hardness and sharpness throughout the treatment (and longer: 80 minutes consecutively), the right type of collagen (type 3) is produced. This is the type of collagen needed to create and organise effective tissue structures at the right rate. Then this type of collagen is converted to type 1 collagen, resulting in the desired and long-lasting results without (subcutaneous) scars. This is a must for the creation of healthy, new skin: only with pure needles is embryonic wound healing turned on and the desired results are achieved in a few treatments, without side effects.
Collagen is found in the skin. The top layer of the skin is the epidermis, where the skin cells are located. Below this is the dermis (dermis) and the subcutaneous connective tissue (hypodermis). This is where important parts of your skin, such as blood vessels and hair follicles, are located. In between there is a lot of elastin and collagen. Elastin is a protein that provides elasticity to the skin. The dermis consists of about 30% collagen. Collagen and elastin together ensure skin firmness, suppleness and elasticity.
“Collagen Induction Therapy” (CIT) or “Percutaneous Collagen Induction” (PCI) is a skin treatment in which the outer layers of the skin – epidermis and dermis – are punctured in a minimally invasive way, activating the body’s own repair process and the renewal of damaged skin tissue by increasing collagen production. Collagen Induction Therapy activates wound healing mechanisms without damaging the epidermis; the puncture channels quickly close again.
The focus of the SkinPen micro-needling treatment is on the second layer of skin: the dermis. Deze huidlaag bevat de fibroblasten, die collageen en elastine produceren. Collagen provides volume and firmness to the skin, while elastin ensures its resilience. Fibroblast treatment accelerates the production of collagen and elastin, resulting in stronger, more supple and more even skin tone. The skin will regain its volume and wrinkles will refine. Did you know that the functioning of these two structures decreases annually from age 25? With the advent of the SkinPen, microneedling is safer, more precise and more effective than ever before!
